Yep, you guessed it—it’s another new model from BYD Cars Philippines. The Chinese automaker continues its quest to cover every nook and cranny of the market there is, and this new people-hauler is what’s up next

This is the all-new BYD eMax 9 DM-i, a plug-in hybrid van that has just been launched at the ongoing Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit. It comes in as BYD’s most luxurious model to date and looks to challenge the likes of the Toyota Alphard and GAC M8.

It arguably looks classier than its stablemates, with a large, imposing grille up front. Above it is the signature silver trim with the BYD badge, and flanking this are the equally large, swept-back headlamps. Air vents on the sides complete the look of the front fascia.

Out back, there’s a massive windshield paired with a lightbar on the tailgate. There’s a small wing up top and a subtle bumper below. It sits on busy-looking alloy wheels.

As the name suggests, the eMax 9 DM-i will feature a similar powertrain as the other BYD plug-in hybrids. This comprises a 1.5-liter turbo generator that powers the 36.6kWh BYD Blade Battery (20.4kWh in the base variant). This setup powers the front-mounted electric motor that produces 267hp and 315Nm of torque.

The eMax 9 DM-i has a 50-liter fuel tank, and on a full tank and a full charge, it can go up to 1,000km with the bigger battery option. It also supports AC and DC charging and has Vehicle-to-Load capabilities with a V2L adapter coming as standard.

We’ll have more details and photos of this all-new people-hauler out soon, so stay tuned. In the meantime, check out below the prices for the two variants available at launch:
