As this fuel crisis carries on, more and more people are jumping on the electric bandwagon. If you’re one of those people, then naturally, you’ll look to brands like BYD for your EV purchase.
If that’s the case, then you might want to check out what the Chinese carmaker has in store for the 2026 Manila International Auto Show later this week: the all-new BYD Sealion 7.

If BYD’s naming system continues to confuse you, then don’t worry, you’re not alone. There’s already a ‘Sealion’ in the market, that being the plug-in hybrid 6. This new one, the 7, is its fully electric sibling that we first saw in the metal at the Bangkok International Motor Show last year.

Now, this doesn’t really come as a surprise, as BYD Cars Philippines’ activity from earlier this year already indicated that this EV—as well as the Sealion 8—was already bound for our market.

All that being said, we still don’t know what the Philippine-spec Sealion 7 will be like. We also don’t have any details on whether or not it’ll actually be launched at MIAS and if we’ll know the final pricing then. The only thing we’re sure about (at least for now) is that BYD’s next EV will be previewed at the show from April 9 to 12, and that event-goers have the chance to check it out up close.
