The 2025 BYD Tang DM-i could soon make its Philippine debut, as its homologation papers were just published by the Land Transportation Office. Neither the Tang nor the BYD Han electric sedan has seen an update since BYD Cars Philippines debuted with ACMobility some years ago.

If the duo is indeed bringing in the hybrid version of the Tang, it looks like the popularity of BYD’s DM-i plug-in hybrid system has built enough confidence to enter the luxury vehicle segment. Performance-wise, the Tang DM-i might share the most similarities with the Sealion 6, as both are listed with a pure electric driving range of 110km. That would put its combined range at possibly 1,110km.

Interestingly, the Tang DM-i is measured at 4,870mm long, 100mm shorter than the Tang EV that is presently available in the Philippines. That may be due to a smaller and lighter battery. It is also marginally shorter, but ground clearance has been bumped up to 220mm from 150mm.

Like its fully electric counterpart, this Tang is also a seven-seater that should be outfitted in a more luxurious and comfortable cabin. This is part of BYD’s executive Dynasty series, after all. BYD has also advertised its executive Tang SUV with performance aspirations. The electric Tang here can make the 0-100kph sprint in a hair under 5sec. However, being a hybrid, this new Tang may be more focused on completing the 1,000km marathon.

BYD Cars Philippines and ACMobility have yet to make any official announcement on the Tang DM-i, which puts its official release and pricing up in the air until then.
