From time to time, we keep tabs on the Chevrolet Colorado. Currently, there are two versions available. The first is the North American model that, funnily enough, is also sold in South Korea. The second is the one still based on the previous generation that’s offered for South America.

It’s known as the S10 over there and it has been getting a steady stream of updates since. More recently, it just got a new limited-run model dubbed the 100 Years Edition.

Obviously, it gets that name to commemorate a century of, well, something. In this case, it’s the 100th anniversary of Chevrolet’s presence in Brazil. As such, only 100 units of this pickup will be made.

So, what does this Chevrolet Colorado get? It’s based on the off-road oriented Z71 variant. But it’s not just a cosmetic upgrade, mind you. It actually does get proper goodies to make it even more trail-ready.

The engine stays stock, but it does get loads of suspension upgrades. It comes courtesy of Ironman, a name that may be familiar to off-road enthusiasts. With that, it gets new springs at the front and beefier leaf springs at the back. At the same time, the pickup gains an extra 30mm of ground clearance. To make it grip on the loose stuff, it wears Pirelli Scorpion Plus All-Terrain tires.

For the exterior, there’s a new front bumper design that adds a pair of slim LED driving lights. It also gains gloss black finishes, and the hood adds a decorative bulge. It’s then topped off by decals on the fenders and a sports bar on the bed.

Under the hood is a 2.8-liter Duramax diesel engine. Power is rated at 204hp and, more importantly, 510Nm. The only transmission choice is an eight-speed automaticFour-wheel drive comes standard, along with a rear differential locker.

Sadly, this version of the Colorado will not be sold in Asia. Chances of it coming here are close to zero as it isn’t particularly feasible to import it all the way from Brazil into a small market like ours. At the same time, General Motors no longer has an assembly line in Southeast Asia, effectively halting any possibility of a comeback.
