Niels van Roij, a Dutch coachbuilder responsible for many fine, interesting automotive items, has announced that he and his team are to create yet another: A modern interpretation of the one-off Ferrari Daytona Shooting Brake from the 1970s.
This car, provisionally dubbed the Daytona Shooting Brake Hommage–tin, what it says on, does, etc–will apparently retain its Ferrari donor’s front-engined V12 underpinnings, but completely reimagine the body using his talent and lots and lots of hand-formed aluminum.

It will feature “a dramatically revised interior and roofline, with an elongated rear and sharply raked Kamm tail,” along with butterfly side windows, because sure, why the hell not.

Only these initial renders exist, but we’ll see the finished product at this year’s RAC Concours on July 8. “Translating the legendary 1970s shooting brake into a contemporary design language has been a complex process,” said van Roij. “Our aim has always been to celebrate the original without being constrained by it creatively.”

It’ll be shown…and then immediately whisked off into private ownership, van Roij added, but you can follow its development on something called ‘social media.’
“Designing the Daytona Shooting Brake Hommage has been both an honor and a rare opportunity,” he said. “There is a unique sense of occasion in creating something that will never be repeated.”
More as we get it.
