A couple of weeks back, you got a peek at the Ferrari 488 Spyder, featuring the most advanced technology the Italian supercar maker can muster at the moment. Now it’s arch-rival Lamborghini's turn to drop the top. And it does so with no less than its very own hypercar: the Aventador LP750-4 SuperVeloce Roadster.
The latest Lambo was revealed at The Quail event in California. The venue was quite fitting, as the car is arguably one of the sexiest pieces of metal around.
What’s so special about the SV roadster? Imagine the already potent Aventador roadster with its 700hp. Now, add some 50hp while subtracting 50kg from the total mass. This means that the car now weighs a light 1,575kg and packs some 750hp. Just like the “standard” SV with a hardtop, the Sant’Agata Bolognese special can scoot to 100kph from rest in an eye-watering 2.9 seconds, and top out at a blurry 350kph. Try this with the top down and see how fast the world moves past you.
The two-piece carbon-fiber roof weighs less than 6kg per piece. These can easily be stowed in the compartment when you feel like going topless. Plus, the effect is heightened by the power rear window that easily lets you hear the sonorous soundtrack of that glorious engine. If you hear the powerplant at full bore, you can easily understand how folks get addicted to such tunes.
Just like its SV coupe sibling, the latest SV roadster will be offered in limited numbers. While the coupe only came in at 600 units, the roadster will be even more exclusive--with just 500 examples on offer. And even at $530,075 a unit (P24.5 million, but double the figure if you're bringing one in), you can just imagine how coveted this car will be.
