Ferrari’s flagship plug-in hybrid supercar is now officially in the Philippines. Meet the Ferrari 849 Testarossa, the direct successor to the SF90 Stradale. We paid a visit to the Ferrari Velocita Motors dealership in San Juan to see the car in the metal. Here’s everything you can expect from this Italian stallion.
If you’re familiar with the SF90, then this powertrain will look familiar. The 849 Testarossa uses an improved 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 with three electric motors. Combined, the system delivers 1,050hp and 842Nm of torque. While the engine sends power to the rear wheels, the Testarossa has “on-demand” four-wheel-drive, which automatically activates the two front-mounted electric motors when you need more acceleration or traction. An eight-speed dual-clutch F1 gearbox completes the package.

Design-wise, the Testarossa takes inspiration from ’70s sports prototypes, including the 512 S and the 512 M. The headlights are separated by a black band, while the thin taillights sit high on the rear, just below the twin-tail wing. The exhaust tips are also integrated into the bumper.

The sharp-looking features don’t just look good, but also contribute to the car’s aerodynamics. The front bumper has an aggressive splitter and integrated bumperettes that help increase downforce and airflow to the front intake. The rear, meanwhile, features an active rear spoiler and multi-level diffuser. Hidden, the redesigned underfloor generates 35% of the car’s downforce through cascading vortex generators. Ferrari says the Testarossa can create 415kg of downforce at 250kph.

The cooling power for the engine and brakes has also improved by 15% thanks to redesigned air vents. Speaking of the brakes, the brake-by-wire system makes use of massive calipers along with Ferrari’s ABS Evo controller to manage precision. To manage grip, the Testarossa has 20-inch forged wheels wrapped in 265/35R20 tires up front and 325/30R20 in the rear.
Inside, the cabin is heavily driver-focused—don’t expect any large touchscreens in here. The steering wheel houses the Engine Start button and driving-mode controls, while the dashboard also houses the gear selector, hazard button, and passenger display controls. Interestingly, the Testarossa still has wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as a wireless charger in the center console. We guess some things you just can’t live without.

This specific model has carbon fiber racing seats, but you can also choose to get the Comfort spec seats, which have more padding. The cabin also has a lot of carbon fiber trim, from the steering wheel, paddle shifters, dashboard, center console, and door panels.
Ferrari offers a wide range of customization for the Testarossa. Customers can choose their own paintwork, livery, and interior materials, all through Ferrari’s configurator. In addition, there is also an Assetto Fiorano trim that maximizes the Testarossa’s weight savings and aerodynamic performance through carbon fiber and titanium parts, as well as modifications to the underfloor and spoilers. The ‘Giallo Modena’ example you see here already has an owner, who has spec’d their Testarossa with their preferred customizations.

Now, for the price. The Ferrari 849 Testarossa starts at P40,600,000 for the Coupe and P44,000,000 for the Spider. Of course, the degree of customization will determine the final bill. If you’re interested in owning one for yourself, you can visit Ferrari Velocita Motors in San Juan to discuss further.
