December 2025 was a busy time for Ford. In that month, the Blue Oval officially closed production on the Escape crossover (remember that one?) and rescinded several electric vehicles that were in development. The latter led to a P1.144 trillion markdown, but it looks like the company will be rectifying both those actions with one new vehicle.
A report from Ford Authority confirmed that the Escape will return as a fully electric crossover, with production expected to begin in 2029. Assembly will take place at the brand’s plant in Louisville, as it will make use of Ford’s Universal Electric Vehicle platform.

The first product to use that new architecture will be a budget-friendly midsize pickup, which is slated to debut in 2027. The report then suggests that the new Escape EV will be the second vehicle on the universal platform.

At the time of writing, Ford has not officialized anything about a new Escape. The Philippine market has not seen this compact SUV for about a decade now, so it will be a nice reunion if it makes a comeback.

Ford Philippines sources its more competitive nameplates, like the Territory, Ranger, and Everest, from the brand’s regional factories in China and Thailand. Only the more upmarket models, like the Mustang, the Mustang Mach-E, and the Bronco, are imported from North America.
Given that the Escape is typically positioned as a consumer-friendly SUV, it may get too expensive if brought over from Louisville in the United States. However, that too remains speculation. Ford’s new EV platform was made to significantly optimize costs, and we haven’t seen just how affordable these new cars can be.
