Last year, Ford Philippines grew 24.7% and overtook Hyundai to become our market’s number three car brand. This performance was buoyed by strong sales of the EcoSport and the Everest. This year, Ford isn’t taking any chances with its industry position, especially now that Toyota and Mitsubishi have launched their SUV juggernauts, the Fortuner and the Montero Sport.
At the ongoing Manila International Auto Show, the American carmaker revealed two special variants of its best-selling models: the EcoSport Black Edition and the Everest Titanium 2.2L 4x2 with the Premium Package.
Ford’s subcompact crossover gets black 16-inch alloy wheels, black lower-grille bezel, black upper-grille bezel, and dual blacked-out halogen headlights. The dark color scheme continues with the front fog lamps and the exterior mirrors.
Extra accessories include roof crossbars, rear spoiler, sports pedal, and illuminated scuff plates. This special EcoSport will cost P998,000, and is now available for reservation at Ford dealerships.
The new Everest variant, meanwhile, is a result of demand for the toys that previously only existed in the top-spec Titanium 3.2L 4x4. These must-have features for future owners are: HID projectors and auto-leveling headlamps, power panoramic moonroof, LED daytime running lights, headlamp washers, 230V power socket, power liftgate, third-row power-folding seats, adaptive cruise control, head-up display warning with collision mitigation, lane-keeping system, lane-departure warning, and active park assist. Whew!
In other words, Ford made the new Everest Titanium 2.2L 4x2’s P1,799,000 asking price worth it. You can also book this well-equipped midsize SUV at your favorite Ford dealer.
With these new additions, the Blue Oval brand is in a good position to retain its standing this year. But with so many strong entries from established brands, anything is possible.
