The end of the days. The death of an era. A memory lost in time.
These are admittedly all too dramatic descriptions for a simple price hike, but when the vehicle in question is one of the most exciting model releases last year, it merits a dramatic intro.
Ford Philippines today announced that the introductory price of its Ranger Raptor pickup has been rescinded. From P1,898,000, Ford’s midsize wonder now costs P1,998,000—an increase of P100,000. The old price will remain for the lucky guys who reserved before March 1, 2019.
With Fox shock absorbers, custom wheels, and a Terrain Management System that includes Baja mode, the Ranger Raptor is what many regular Rangers want to be when they grow up. At its heart is a bi-turbo diesel engine with 500Nm, harnessed by a 10-speed automatic transmission.
“The introductory pricing offer, which ran for over five months, received an overwhelming response from Filipino pickup truck fans and enthusiasts with the number of customers who reserved and purchased their Ranger Raptor,” said Bert Lessard, managing director of Ford Philippines. “We believe the new pricing remains very competitive with the performance, power, and segment-leading features the Ranger Raptor offers.”
It’s not a staggering increase if you think about it, and financing will certainly bring down the burden to manageable levels, but it still stings just the same.
Is it still worth it? Oh, yes.
