The announcement of the Ford Ranger Super Duty is one of the biggest surprises of the pickup market in 2024. Following first teaser from earlier this month, Ford has dropped yet another detail for the heavy-duty pickup.
To show that the ‘junior’ Super Duty can take on the job, Ford has confirmed that it will get a few bits from its much bigger brother, the F-250.

For this version of the Ford Ranger, it will get the eight-stud hubs from the F-250, as well as the 18-inch steel wheels and 33-inch all-terrain tires. With that, we’re expecting an even greater degree of upgrades over the standard models. Stronger axles, beefier springs, and wider wheel tracks are some of the things we might see in the Ranger Super Duty.
But why are the eight-stud hubs a big deal? “The eight-stud configuration offers a significant advantage in terms of load capacity and ensures an even distribution of weight across the wheel,” said Drew O’Shannassy, Ford’s Ranger Super Duty engineering program supervisor to Australian automotive outlet CarExpert.

From what we can tell so far, the Ranger Super Duty will be wider than the Wildtrak models and below. It could also come with a different grille, along with unique body panels. The engine choices are unknown at this point, but it’s a safe bet that it will at least come with the 3.0-liter Powerstroke V6 diesel. For reference, the six-cylinder diesel makes 247hp and 600Nm.
What we do know is most of the vehicle’s capacities. It has a towing capacity and gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of 4,500kg, significantly more than the non-Super Duty variants. With a gross combination weight (GCW) of 8,000kg, it is also expected to carry a payload capacity of over 1,300kg.
