Around the world, the current generation Ford Ranger and Everest is offered with a wide variety of engines. In North America, the Ranger has a choice of turbo petrol and turbo V6 options. In Europe, it’s largely diesel options save for the Raptor. As for Australia where both Rangers and Everests are sold, it get a mix of gas and diesel-powered models.
Over in Southeast Asia, there’s the familiar 2.0-liter diesel offered in both single and twin turbo versions. Select markets also get the mighty twin-turbo V6 exclusive to the Ranger Raptor. But one engine that has never been offered is the 3.0-liter V6 turbodiesel. That is, until now.

Over in Thailand, the six-cylinder Ford Ranger and Ford Everest are finally available. It marks the arrival of V6 diesel power for the Southeast Asian Market. For the Ranger, it’s exclusive to the Wildtrak, while for the Everest, the new range-topping Platinum model. Granted, the V6 diesel has been available in Australia and New Zealand for quite some time already, but we’re still glad that Ford still introduced it in the region.
Stats? The 3.0-liter V6 is also known as the 3.0 Power Stroke. It’s good for 250hp and 600Nm of torque, making this the most powerful diesel option available for the two models. Those numbers also put these Fords at the top of the diesel power ratings in their respective classes. That engine is then mated to a ten-speed automatic, and the only way to go with it is with four-wheel drive.
Ironically, the six-pot diesel in the Ranger Wildtrak V6 also makes it more powerful than the ASEAN-spec Ranger Raptor. While it’s not an indicator of Ford putting the beefier 3.0-liter in the Raptor, we wouldn’t be too surprised if the company, at the very least, considers it.

It’s unknown if Ford Philippines will offer the V6 diesel in the country. That said, the extra power should come in handy when it comes to pulling loads, towing, or having a full set of people and cargo on board. Not that the current 2.0 bi-turbo is underpowered, but the extra 50hp and 100Nm would go a long way.
But Ford Philippines were to bring it here, how much could it be? In Thailand, the Ranger Wildtrak V6 retails for THB1,519,000, while the Everest Platinum goes for THB2,279,000. At current conversion rates, we’re looking at around P2,400,000 and P3,500,000, respectively.
