Sometime last year, Ford unveiled the new-look Territory in China, or what’s called the Equator Sport. Chances are, however, that Territory won’t be what we get in the Philippines. What we might get is the one that the Blue Oval just unveiled in Brazil. It’s...slightly different. Ever so slightly different.
If you look at the photo above, you’ll see that it has the same front fascia with the futuristic-looking headlamps and the wide grille with the horizontal slats. Notice, though, that this one lacks the triangular black plastic trim below the headlight panels, unlike the China models.

Unfortunately...that’s as far as the differences go, as the rest of the car is exactly the same. Okay, we know, it’s a bit of a stretch, but it’s “technically the truth,” you know—it’s still technically different. The rear remains unchanged. On the inside, it’s still clad in a mix of black leather and plastics, with the seats, center console, and door panels accentuated with brown bits.
It does sit on new-look 19-inch wheels with the horizontal accents on the spokes, which look pretty clean. Brazil didn’t specify in the press release if there were changes to the engine, but we’re guessing it retains the 1.5-liter turbopetrol similar to what we have in the market. China, meanwhile, gets a new plug-in hybrid system with a 1.5-liter engine paired with a single electric motor. The setup puts out 218hp in total.
Anyway, no word yet whether or not this Territory will arrive in our market, but if it does, juse keep your fingers crossed that we’ll get the PHEV version, too.
