In the subcompact sedan class, there has been a raft of updates and all-new models coming lately. There’s the all-new Vios (which still hasn’t been launched here), along with the facelifted Honda City and Nissan Almera. It’s the best-selling sedan class in the land, and it’s crucial to keep things fresh there.
That brings us neatly to the Geely Emgrand. This model made its world premiere in 2021 with the Philippine debut following in February 2022. While priced like a subcompact, its exterior dimensions were that of a compact with the aim of giving more car for the money.

However, the Emgrand is due for a bit of an update. Three models years have passed and most of its rivals have been refreshed already. Geely seems to be aware of this as first photos of the facelifted model have started appearing in its home market.
For now, there are no full details but we do see all of the exterior changes. At the front, the updated Emgrand now wears the new Geely badge on its grille. Speaking of the grille, the vertical slats are more prominent for the 2025 model year. The bumper appears unchanged, but there are new L-shaped corner daytime running lights. Lastly, the headlight cluster now feature a new LED signature.

It appears that there are new wheel options for the new Geely Emgrand. However, that look will likely depend on which market the model will be sold. The rest of the body appears carried over from the current model, but the rear trunk garnish seems to have lost its lighting. That said, that could depend on the variant chosen.
Interior changes, if any, are yet to be determined. A new digital instrument cluster is possible, at least based on the Proton version of this model, the S70. We’re also crossing our fingers that the facelift finally brings in Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
We’re not expecting major changes in terms of powertrain. The familiar 1.5-liter engine could still be making 102hp and 142Nm of torque. Transmission choices are likely to remain, namely a CVT or five-speed manual. It would be nice to get the Proton S70’s three-pot turbo, though, as that raises output to 148hp and 226Nm.
