The country’s Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) wants everyone to know that the Pasig River Expressway (PAREX) project isn’t dead. At least not yet.

According to a recent report by Inquirer.net, the agency has given the San Miguel Corporation (SMC) until October this year to submit a finalized engineering design for the project.

“As of now, they are not abandoning the project. It is a live project,” TRB executive director Alvin Carullo reportedly said last week.

“It will also be vetted and reviewed by the board, by the TRB, and duly approved by the board also,” the official added.

PAREX

Earlier this year, reports surfaced that SMC had scrapped its plans to build the controversial expressway. “If the public thinks that it is not good to the public welfare, hindi namin gagawin ’yun,” SMC boss Ramon Ang said at the time.

Last month, however, the TRB bared that PAREX was still technically “on the table.”

“Technically, it’s still on the table because we have not yet officially (been) given confirmation that they are already terminating the contract or terminating the project,” Carullo said in May.

So, do you still want PAREX to push through? Or should SMC and the government find other ways to address Metro Manila’s worsening traffic crisis? Let us know in the comments section.?
