There’s no shortage of luxury vans that aim to offer the business class experience on the road. At the top of our heads, there’s the Toyota Alphard, as well as its, ehem, first-class version, the Lexus LM. There’s also the Kia Carnival Turbo Hybrid, and the top-spec version of the Hyundai Staria.
In China, there are bucketloads of these kinds of vans. Just about every major automaker there claims to have some sort of ultra-lux van in their respective ranges. Some examples include the Hongqi HS9, the GAC M8, and the BYD Xia that we hope arrives here someday.

Then there’s Geely with their luxury division, Galaxy. Not wanting to miss out on that segment, the company has unveiled its own business class van to steal sales away from its compatriots, the South Koreans, and the Japanese.

It’s called the Geely Galaxy L380, and the company calls it a ‘Land Airbus.’ Those are their words, not ours. The ‘380’ bit of the name is a reference to the Airbus A380, and if that allusion isn’t enough, just take a look at their marketing material below. Yes, that’s an A380 in the background.

Galaxy is keen to point out that their luxury van offers absolute acres of space. That’s mainly because it measures a whopping 5,316mm long, 1,998mm wide, 1,920mm tall, with a wheelbase of 3,185mm. To put that into perspective, it’s ever so slightly longer than a Toyota Hiace Super Grandia, and we all know how spacious that van is.
And here’s another bold claim from the company: The second and third row has about a meter of legroom each, offering true stretch out room for all rear occupants. Also, the second and third-row seats are captain’s chairs, making this a properly roomy six-seater. Oh, and all those are power operated with leg rests, just like in business class seats in, say, an Airbus A380.

If that’s not enough, there’s a hidden fourth row in case one has to carry even more passengers. All that space is thanks to the inherent spaciousness of a van, as well as the fact that it’s an electric vehicle.
The slim batteries mean more freedom to maximize space, and there are no drivetrain bits to intrude into the floor area. Not only that, it allows this van to have a large cargo area even with all seats in place. This is also, quite possibly, the first eight-seater pure electric luxury van.

You won’t find much in the way of buttons, either. Just about every feature function is shoved in its massive infotainment display. There’s also a rear entertainment system for the second-row passengers, while each of the captain’s chairs have a digital control pods on the armrests.
Of course, there’s a barrage of advanced driver assist systems in here. The adaptive suspension can almost be called predictive suspension as it uses camera to scan the road to adjust the dampers before the vehicle reaches road imperfections.

Depending on battery size, range for the Geely Galaxy L380 starts at 570km, all the way to 825km. The smallest battery pack is an already sizable 100kWh in the single motor models. Opt for the dual motor versions, and that capacity increases to 140kWh. As for power, the 100kWh versions make 268hp, while those saddled with the 140kWh pack dole out 536hp.
