Geely is gearing up for a big 2025 in the Philippines, and we think the Chinese carmaker’s newest hybrid sedan could be its worthiest flagbearer. The Geely Galaxy L6 EM-i was recently debuted in China, and if brought to Philippine roads, it would become Geely’s bet in the growing hybrid-sedan segment.
Back in November 2024, BYD released its own PHEV sedan, the Seal 5 DM-i, which inadvertently kicked off a race to reach the lowest price for a hybrid-sedan. Currently, the BYD Seal 5 DM-i starts at P948,000, and that’ll get you a driving range of 1,175km. If Geely wants to compete, it would need to step up to BYD.

If Geely does decide to bring in the Galaxy L6 EM-i, a full-blown comparo with the Seal 5 DM-i is an absolute necessity, but for now spec sheets will have to do.
The Geely Galaxy L6 EM-i measures in at 4,782mm long, 1,875mm wide, and 1,489mm tall with a wheelbase of 2,752mm. That makes the Galaxy L6 EM-i marginally bigger than the Seal 5 DM-i, and considerably larger than the Honda City and Toyota Vios.
Under the hood, the base variant couples a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine with a 8.5kWh battery to make a PHEV powertrain that should get over 1,300km in driving range. There is a more powerful variant that keeps the same engine, but pairs it with a bigger battery for longer range.

Inside the cabin, it looks like Geely will be offering its five-seater sedan in multiple trims with varying colors and finishes—from cloth all the way to suede. Like its competitors, the center is tied together by a large screen that packs an AI assistant.
Price and its overall driving experience will define its strength in our local market, and for that, we’ll just have to wait and see. In its home market, the Geely Galaxy L6 EM-i starts at an eye catching 99,800 CNY (P799,000). If Geely Motor Philippines can retain that price point, then we will have a head-turning clash of PHEV sedans.
