Hongqi Philippines has inaugurated its newest dealer, located at the Four E-Com Center in the SM Mall of Asia complex. To celebrate, Hongi Philippines unveiled two new EVs for the local market, boosting their local product line to eight vehicles.

While Hongqi is probably best known for its executive-style second row seating, it seems like the new Hongqi EH7 sedan and EHS7 SUV look to be driver-forward cars. While their second rows still look plush and comfortable, there seems to be too much power in these vehicles for an owner to pass up the driver’s seat.

Starting with the Hongi EH7, it slots into the executive mid-size sedan segment with two variants, the first being aptly named Executive and then the other Flagship.

The base Executive EH7 packs an 85kWh battery that powers a 2WD system. That system makes about 340hp and an astounding 450Nm of torque. Hongqi estimates that the 0-100kph sprint should be completed in just 6.2sec. See what we mean about power?

Spirited sedan advocates can find even more power in the Executive variant that packs an even bigger battery and a 4WD system. That larger battery measures in at 111kWh, which then outputs into 610hp and an even crazier 756Nm of torque. Thanks to that extra power, the 0-100kph acceleration is almost halved, clocking in at 3.5sec.

In terms of driving range, Hongqi advertises that the EH7 Executive can drive for 510km on a full charge, while the more powerful EH7 Flagship can run for 650km.

Just like the EH7, the Hongqi EHS7 packs the same batteries but in a taller SUV body. Its two variants are also called Executive and Flagship and perform similarly to their sedan counterparts.

The EHS7 Executive loses some speed, power, and range, most likely due to the heavier body it carries around. While its power outputs mirror those of the EH7 sedan, its 0-100kph sprint is marginally slower at 6.5sec, and its driving range is considerably shorter at 475km. The EHS7 Flagship follows a similar story. It runs to 100kph at a slower 3.9sec time, and its driving range slides down to 540km.

Still, these numbers put Hongqi’s new EVs in contention with some of the quickest cars from Europe and Japan. These performance outputs, along with an executive-styled cabin, look to be the Chinese carmaker’s latest signature on the local automotive market. But are these peformance—luxury—electric cars priced fairly? Let us know in the comments section.
