Huawei has a wide variety of products, but we probably know them the best for their mobile phones and electronics. That said, the company has dipped its toes in the automotive sector. So far, it has a partnership with Aito, but they have another one that’s just been released in China.
Meet the Huawei Maextro S800, and it’s taking aim at Mercedes-Maybach and Rolls-Royce. That’s quite the ambitious target, so it’s interesting to see what it’s packing.

In the world of opulent sedans, bigger is better. With that, the S800 measures in at 5,480mm long, 2,000mm wide, and 1,536mm tall, with a wheelbase of 3,370mm. It’s as big as sedans get, and even edges out the already massive Mercedes-Maybach S680.

One can say that the shape of this limousine was formed in the wind tunnel. There’s a smooth front fascia with a sleek roofline and kicked up trundled. Jazzing it up is a two-tone paint finish and flush wheel covers that’s a throwback to luxury cruisers from the past. Of course, there’s no shortage of chrome on the body.

Inside, there’s acres of leather, wood, and other expensive looking materials. A barrage of screens dominate the dash, plus a monitor on each door that effectively replace the side mirrors.
Of course, the main highlight is at the back, and there’s acres of legroom thanks to the long wheelbase. Pull-out tables are part of the package, along with power ottoman seats. Rear passengers are also greeted by a starlight roof that can roll back to reveal a glass ceiling.
There’s no shortage of tech, either, as the S800 is equipped with Huawei’s ADS 4 smart driving system, giving it near full-autonomous driving capabilities thanks to 192-line LiDAR sensors. On top of that, it has ‘predictive’ suspension’, and ‘crab walking’ capabilities.

The Huawei Maextro S800 is a range-extended electric vehicle. In the case of this model, it pairs a 1.5-liter turbo engine that simply serves as the generator for two electric motors. There’s even a triple motor version for those who need more grunt. For the dual motor unit, it makes 523hp, while the tri-motor model punches out 852hp.
How much, you ask? It starts at 788,000RMB over in China or about P6.1-M at current conversion rates. Given that Maybach’s and Rolls-Royces are easily five times more expensive, the S800 is a relative bargain…for billionaires.
