The Hyundai N division has been a bit of a revelation since it was first established back in 2012, and now it has decided to plunder its own motorsports parts bin for a special edition of the Elantra N road car.

This is the Hyundai Elantra N TCR Edition, which the Korean carmaker says is “inspired by its multiple race and championship victories achieved in TCR and the extensive bank of expertise this has brought.” Because everybody loves touring cars.

Before you get too excited, there aren’t any mechanical changes to the TCR Edition, meaning you’ll have to make do with the Elantra N’s standard 276hp 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. That’ll still get you from 0-100kph in around 5sec seconds, though, so it’s hardly sluggish.

But the TCR Edition’s top speed may be reduced slightly, because would you get a look at that giant rear wing! That’s a lightweight carbon-fiber swan-neck spoiler that looks like it’s straight off the touring car and is adjustable for optimal downforce creation.

Badged as the Avante N TCR Edition in South Korea, this special edition also gets lightweight 19-inch forged wheels and N Performance four-piston brakes as standard. Inside, there’s an alcantara steering wheel with a blue top marker, as well as blue seatbelts and TCR Edition badging. Usual special-edition fare, then, although those in South Korea will also be able to get a giant TCR Edition N decal.
