The Hyundai Stargazer has become one of our favorites in the subcompact MPV segment. That’s thanks to the fact that it’s our Big Test winner from a couple of years ago, beating the Honda BR-V, Mitsubishi Xpander, and Toyota Veloz (You can watch part 1 and part 2 by clicking on the blue words). Sure, the looks aren’t to everyone’s taste, but boy was it hugely flexible.

It’s been about three years since it made its world premiere, so it’s due for a little bit of an update. The thing is, Hyundai doesn’t do small changes when it comes to facelifts. Instead, we might be in store for a very major update of the current model.

Some readers might recall that Hyundai Indonesia made an announcement that it will launch a new MPV for the upcoming Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show. While the company didn’t name the model, it’s a safe bet that it’s the new Stargazer. Weeks after that announcement, the first teaser photos of the MPV are finally out.

The vehicle shown in the teaser photo does have a couple of details in common with the one spied in South Korea earlier this year. We see a flatter hood, along with a more intricate light pattern at the front. At the same time, we also see a new set of tail lights connected by a high-mounted LED strip.

What doesn’t appear to be changed is the middle section of the MPV. The windows still look identical to the current models, and the same could be said about the roofline. This suggests that this is, indeed, a heavy facelift rather than an all-new model.

We’re also expecting the interior to receive a major overhaul for this update. There’s a good chance that it might adapt the same design as the recently refreshed Creta that adapted a new dashboard. As for the engine, we reckon it will be carried over from the present model, meaning a 1.5-liter engine with 113hp.

The new Hyundai Stargazer is expected to be one of the headline launches for the 2025 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show. With the premiere date locked in, we can expect full details by July 24.

Oh, as a little bonus, we enhanced the teaser photo in the off-chance we see more details. Result.
