At Auto Shanghai 2025, Jetour announced its ambition to lead the luxury off-roading hybrid vehicle segment around the world. While the Chinese carmaker did not explicitly mention its competitors, this goal essentially means dethroning heritage brands like Land Rover and Mercedes-Benz, or at least rising to their ranks.
While Jetour’s foundations lie within the powerful Chery group, the brand itself was only established in 2018, making it one of the youngest nameplates in the industry. Its aspirations certainly belie its age, and a brand-new lineup of vehicles is ready to get things rolling.

The Jetour G900 is the top-spec vehicle in this new class. While the mid-range G700 took center stage at the auto show, the G900 will be tasked to move the needle for the brand and really show what Jetour is capable of.

Jetour also used Auto Shanghai to announce its new GAIA Architecture. This platform will be the bedrock for its luxury off-roading hybrid vehicles, and the G900 will utilize its most powerful offerings. Other vehicles will use select pieces from GAIA to eventually offer a diverse suite of classy overland machines.
And machines they will be. Built around the iEM-O Amphibious Range Extender System, the G900 should be able to drive through water, similarly to the BYD YangWang U8. Exact specs and numbers have yet to be given, but Jetour has mentioned figures of up to 18,000Nm of torque and other marine-grade capabilities. The cabin should also be capable of producing oxygen, along with a suite of AI-powered functions and capabilities.

At the time of writing, the G900 exists as a concept car at best, surrounded by rumors of its possible performance. Even with these features, interested (or practical) Jetour owners would likely move toward the G700 and the smaller G600 instead. With the GAIA platform, they are still touted to be incredibly powerful vehicles with efficient hybrid powertrains.
The G900 has yet to ‘officially’ record any road time or laps around a body of water. As Jetour enters its new era and ventures into the world luxury vehicles, it will be interesting to see how the brand’s ambition will impact its existing lineup and its next releases.
