When we first started hearing about Toyota’s IMV 0 project, what would eventually become the Tamaraw, we were impressed at how versatile Toyota’s utility platform was. But apparently they were just getting started.
Meet Toyota’s IMV Origin. What you’re looking at is a modular chassis that anyone (Toyota’s words) can assemble and repair. The world’s leading automaker designed IMV Origin to be something that can help local communities, creating jobs and spurring growth.

It’s also quite appealing, which is odd to say given there’s barely anything to see. But you can see the rugged character and no-frills design easily.

The IMV Origin is a canvas that entices customers to shape it, build it the way they see fit. According to Toyota Motor Corporation president Koji Sato, “we just build the base. From there, each customer completes the vehicle to fit their needs. As a carmaker, not finishing this vehicle was frustrating. However, not finishing it is what makes it a ‘for you’ car, because people have different needs in their daily life and work.”
There were not a lot of details about the IMV Origin. But it shows a lot of promise. Do you want it to see it in our market?
