The Toyota Corolla is the best-selling car of all time. But it is also popularly known as a sedan, and the sedan’s popularity as a body type has been declining for years. However, at this year’s Japan Mobility Show, Toyota Motor Corporation has revealed a stunning new design direction for the Corolla.
Sleek and low with a fastback body style, the Corolla Concept charts an aggressive course for the car beloved by millions. We hope the design makes it through the vetting process for mass production.

Toyota promises a wide range of powertrains that can suit the needs of most customers. But the Japanese carmaker says the design, cabin space, utility, and packaging will be consistent.

But times are changing. There was a time when the Corolla was the primary choice for affordable personal transport. But now there are more options in the Toyota stable at the lower end of the market.
The Corolla Concept breathes new life into Toyota’s best-selling model. And with the GR Corolla gaining new fans every year, it shows that the popular compact sedan (fastback?) still has a lot of gas left in the tank. According to Toyota Motor Corporation president Koji Sato, “whether it’s a battery EV, plug-in hybrid, hybrid, or internal combustion engine vehicle—whatever the power source—let’s make good-looking cars that everyone will want to drive! This car is packed with inventions aimed at making that a reality.”
We’re excited to see the next evolution of the Corolla.
