The Toyota booth at the 2025 Japan Mobility Show is filled with jaw-dropping and exciting concepts, but here is something a little more down to earth. On the show floor is the plug-in hybrid version of the 2026 Toyota RAV4.
It was unveiled some months ago, but this is the first time we got to see it in the metal, and you can color us interested. This particular plug-in hybrid RAV4 has been styled and tuned by Toyota Gazoo Racing, officially holding the GR-Sport moniker.

The braking and handling systems have all been modified by Gazoo Racing to give the RAV4’s AWD system a more spirited and engaged ride. The 0-100kph sprint should be completed in about 5.6sec, thanks to the 320hp output of the RAV4’s plug-in hybrid powertrain. That system comprises a 2.5-liter, four-cylinder engine and a 22.7kWh battery, which also gives the RAV4 an all-electric driving range of about 84km.

The wheels have also been enlarged to 20 inches, from the base model’s 18-inch alloys. Inside, the RAV4 GR-Sport gets a 12.9-inch infotainment screen, accompanied by a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and a head-up display.

Local reports point toward the fully electric bZ4X SUV as Toyota’s next Philippine release, but the plug-in hybrid RAV4 makes a very compelling case—especially with the rise of range-extended electric vehicles in the country.
