Kia Philippines brought out the new EV5 compact crossover at the 2025 Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit (PEVS), and confirmed its official release for sometime in the first quarter of 2026. The EV5 may enter the local market as the most affordable electric model in Kia’s local stable, as it should be priced well under the P3.788 million EV6 and P5.938 million EV9.
For whatever it will cost, buyers next year will get a five-seater crossover with 550km of range. Its single-motor setup is powered by an 88.1kWh battery, with rated outputs of 214hp and 310Nm of torque.

Back in Kia’s home market of South Korea, the EV5 is offered in long-range 2WD, long-range AWD, and a base Standard model. From the advertised range and power, it looks like the Philippines will receive the long-range 2WD variant—a worthy competitor to the BYD Atto 3.

While the vehicle is technically a mid-spec’d variant, it is loaded with a full suite of advanced driver-assistance systems, with parking assist functions and other features of highway driving. The Korean carmaker has also added Kia Sound 2.0 to the EV5, giving it the latest engine simulation audio software the brand has to offer.

In terms of aesthetics, the EV5 essentially looks like a shrunken EV9, with some design cues from the Seltos—which you could say is its combustion-engined counterpart.
Hope owners can catch the EV5, along with the EV6 and EV9, at PEVS 2025 at the SMX Convention Center Manila this weekend.
