It’s no secret that Kia is dead serious about entering the pickup market. There have been a few spy shots of the yet to be named model, but no one has yet to get up close and personal with it.

That is, until now.

South Korean automotive Youtube channel WoopaTV was able to get the scoop on the Kia pickup. Not only that, they were able to take a closer look at the truck, albeit with heavy camouflage.

At the moment, it’s unknown if the unit the channel examined is a test mule or a pre-production model. There are hints of the Telluride SUV present at the front, but it’s possible that it might not be the final product yet. Unlike the Telluride, however, this pickup will have a traditional body on frame chassis, as evidenced by rails underneath.

There are bits of the truck exposed to give us a few clues as to what it might look like. The fenders and four pillars are of interest, taking some elements from old-school pickups and SUVs. Will it be retro-styled? A mix of old and new seems more likely.

Other things of interest? There’s a solid axle at the back with leaf springs, and it’s rather high off the ground. It also appears larger than some mid-size Japanese pickups, so it’s probably around the size of a Ford Ranger. As for the name, ‘Tasman’ seems to be floating around as the likeliest candidate with Kia registering the trademark in various patent offices around the world.
