In a massive stadium in Tarragona, Spain, 200 media participants from 37 markets (including South Korea and yours truly) gathered to witness Kia’s electrified vision for the future. Kia Corporation calls it 2025 EV Day, and it is the second such event in the company’s history. Three new EV models were revealed, expanding Kia’s electrified portfolio and making them more accessible to the market in general.
It’s actually hard to say which was the highlight of the show, as all three models represent varying levels of importance. The Kia EV4 is the first electrified sedan and hatchback for the Korean carmaker. The PV5 is the first in Kia’s Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV) lineup, which is basically its light commercial vehicle (LCV) play. And the Concept EV2 is a glimpse of what’s to come.

No less than Kia Corporation president and CEO Ho Sung Song presented the new models. “Kia remains committed to becoming the world’s leading EV brand and sustainable mobility solutions provider by enhancing the options and experiences we offer our customers,” said Song. “With models like the Kia EV4 and the vision shown in the Kia Concept EV2, we strive to democratize EV ownership, making the benefits of sustainable mobility solutions open to everyone.
“In an era that places ever greater demand for customized products and experiences, buyers still expect manufacturers to meet their needs,” Song added. “As a first mover in the PBV sector, Kia, through the PV5, combines a customer-first approach with advanced EV technology to transform personal mobility.”
Here’s a quick rundown of each model revealed:
Kia EV4 sedan and hatchback

Introduced as a concept during the 2023 EV Day in Korea, Kia revealed the production versions of the EV4 sedan and EV4 hatchback—firsts for the Korean carmaker. As their name reveals, they are smaller than the existing EV9, EV6 and EV5, and represent the potential to draw more people to the brand.

Powered by a 204hp and 280Nm electric motor, the sedan has a range of up to 630km, while the hatchback can go up to 590km between charges. It is categorized as a compact car, competing with the likes of the Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla Altis.

In the cabin, three screens (12.5-inch, 5.3-inch, and 12.3-inch) combine to create a 30-inch display that shows gauges, navigation, and infotainment. And in another first for Kia, the EV4 has remote OTA (over the air) update capability.
Kia PV5

The PV5 is an amazing LCV, a popular category in Europe. The PV5 is electrified, versatile, and modular, representing Kia’s push into a promising segment. It comes in three body variants: passenger, cargo and chassis cab.
An electric motor with 163hp and 250Nm provides propulsion. Range is up to 400km, and it can be fast-charged in 30mins. The PV5 will use Kia’s E-GMP.S platform, utilizing a battery electric skateboard architecture that can be easily adapted for different vehicle bodies.

For something designed to be a workhorse, it’s a head-turner in the proper trim. It’s expected to attract businesses as well as families looking for versatile transport options.
Kia Concept EV2

The Concept EV2 will be Kia’s smallest EV, and it comes in a subcompact crossover body style. It is positioned as an ‘active lifestyle’ vehicle, designed to appeal to people who want a hint of ruggedness but don’t want the full SUV experience.
One thing highlighted is its versatile cabin, with the front seats able to slide back into the folded rear seats to create a spacious cocoon to relax in.
No power and range specs given at this stage of its development. Kia says the Concept EV2 will be revealed in production form in 2026.
