In case you missed it, Kia recently made some subtle aesthetic changes to the Stinger with new-look headlamps and daytime running lights, a sportier bumper, and a massive new taillight. Now, the Stinger gets even more upgrades, but this time in the performance and safety departments.

The Kia retains its 3.3-liter turbocharged V6 but it does get a new electronic variable exhaust valve system. This produces a more prominent and deeper exhaust note and helps the powertrain generate a few more horses, upping maximum output to 368hp. It still produces 510Nm of torque and is still mated to an eight-speed automatic gearbox.

As for its safety features, the Stinger gets new functions such as safe exit warning, blind-spot view monitor, lane-following assist, and rear occupant alert. These come along the existing advanced driver assistance systems features including lane-keep assist, forward collision- and blind-spot collision-avoidance assist, and navigation-based smart cruise control.

In addition to all these, the Stinger also sees some improvements inside the cabin, with a new 10.25-inch widescreen infotainment system (optional) and eight-inch touchscreen display, both with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. The new Stinger also gets more added niceties depending on the variant and the market, including a new remote engine start system and integration of Kia’s UVO App.

“The Stinger remains the standard-bearer for the Kia brand, almost a decade after we first revealed the Kia GT Concept in 2011. It remains our most driver-focused car, and is capable of covering great distances in comfort and style,” said Hyundai Motor Group product division head Thomas Schemera. “The upgraded model builds on the Stinger’s well-established grand touring ethos, with a renewed sense of design flair, new powertrains and technologies, and greater usability enhancing its appeal for buyers in markets around the world.”
