It’s safe to say that Mazda’s duo of premium crossovers are making waves everywhere. The CX-60 and CX-90 have become true and viable alternatives to the luxury establishment, further placing the brand up the premium segment.
Mazda is slowly but surely making the most of the platforms those crossovers use as well. A few months ago, the company rolled out the CX-70, a five-seater version of the sizable CX-90. This time around, a little more work is going into its next luxury crossover.

Coming soon is the Mazda CX-80. The product brief sounds simple enough: It’s an elongated version of the popular CX-60. The first teasers have just been released, and it’s set to be fully revealed this month.
By the looks of it, Mazda has put in more work into the CX-80 than in the CX-70. The prior appears to sport unique bodywork over at the back and is more than just a stretch job over the standard CX-60. We see a more upright tailgate, larger rear windows that droop downwards, and a generally more formal outline.

For now, it’s just the back end that Mazda is showing. After all, that’s where all the major changes can be seen. It’s worth pointing out that the wheelbase will see a bit of a stretch with the company confirming that it will measure about five meters long. It won’t be the largest crossover in the company’s lineup as the CX-90 is 5,100 mm (5.1 meters) from bumper to bumper. However, it will be significantly more than the CX-60 which stands at 4,740mm
Engines for the Mazda CX-80 are unknown at this point. However, it will likely be shared with the CX-60, namely the gas and diesel-powered inline-six engines. A plug-in hybrid could also be offered. We'll find out more once it's fully revealed on April 17, 2024.
According to Mazda, the CX-80 will have the European and Japanese market at the top of its priority markets. It remains to be seen if it will also be offered in Southeast Asia given the availability of the CX-90.
