The Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe is already a special car in itself. While people usually associate the S-Class with a luxury-sedan configuration, this two-door version offers the same comfort and class minus the rear doors. It is for those that look for the wafting carpet-like ride but want to drive themselves instead of being chauffeured around.

But what if you could take an S-Class coupe and fill it with go-fast equipment to make it look and drive even faster? The answer is the Mercedes-AMG S63 Coupe. But what luxury tuner Mansory did was take the S63 Coupe, and make a super Benz called the Black Edition.

Mansory is one of the few aftermarket companies that use an autoclave to come up with a whole range of carbon-fiber bits. With its large air intakes, the front end of the S63 Black Edition blends nicely with the standard LED headlights and daytime running lights. More carbon pieces are seen on the fenders with integrated spacers that give the car a wider (by 50mm) appearance. The hood likewise comes in carbon fiber and features air inlets for the utmost in cooling efficiency. The rear is finished off by a diffuser-look bumper and roof- and lip-type spoilers.

While the whole exterior upgrade may look really cool, it is actually functional as well. The air intakes, for instance, help feed air to the engine, brakes and axles. They also aid in giving the car downforce to keep things in check. For better grip, Mansory specifies Ultrac Sessenta rubber from Vredestein. The 22-inch alloys are wrapped in 255/30 treads in front, and even wider 295/25 tires out back. This helps give the Mansory Merc ultimate adhesion on any surface.

And grip is exactly what you’ll need, what with the tremendous power boost the Mansory engineers gave the Mercedes-AMG S63 Coupe. The M1000 performance kit consists of big end bearings, connecting rods, crankshaft bearings bushings, suction and compressor systems, turbocharging, and a stainless-steel exhaust. In plain English, these increase the standard eight-cylinder engine’s output to 985hp from an already stout 576hp. Torque now stands at an impressive 1,400Nm, peaking at 1,500-3,500 rpm. These are enough to blast the car from 0 to 100kph in 3.2 seconds, all the way to a top speed of 300kph.

The Mansory Black Edition’s interior is a mix of comfort and sportiness in the finest sense. You’ve got aluminum pedals, a newly designed steering wheel, illuminated door sills, hand-stitched leather and carbon-fiber trims, and special Mansory embossed floor mats. All these combine to give all occupants the most comfortable ride at any speed.

With a car like this, you have the choice to cruise and let the world see you drive by, or you can leave it all behind at the prod of the accelerator. Either way, you’re behind the wheel of something special with only six units being produced. Cool, right?
