Recently, patent photos of the second-generation MG HS surfaced online. While it’s not totally the final product, those images give us a good idea of the real deal.
Following that, MG has made it official. Per the automaker, it has locked in a launch date for the next-gen HS. It’s set to be revealed on July 11, 2024, so it’s not too long before we see full photos.

MG made the announcement by showing off a few teaser photos of the all-new crossover SUV. The redesigned HS will make its premiere at the Goodwood Festival of Speed among other high-performance machinery. Per the usual teaser, we don’t see a lot of it just yet, but it’s enough to confirm that the patent photos are close to reality.
From the initial photos, we can see its slim headlights and a few bits of the bumper. We also see the defined character lines on its flanks, as well as its rakish profile.

Over at the back, we get a good view of its full-width tail lights, just like in the patent photos. We also see more of its sleek profile and a small section of the rear bumper. All in all, the recent teaser photos line up with the filed images.
We won’t know what the interior looks like just yet. However, it will likely be similar to the Roewe RX5 that’s currently being sold in China. We can expect a widescreen display at the front and a wraparound cockpit if the MG HS will have an identical cabin.

Powertrain options are likely between turbo petrol or hybrid. The familiar turbocharged 1.5-liter mill is a possible candidate, although a 2.0-liter turbo could also be in the cards. As for the hybrid, a plug-in version has been touted for it given China’s electrification targets.
