It’s no secret that the Mitsubishi Destinator is, er, destined for the Philippine market. In fact, it was even announced during the model’s world premiere not that long ago. Besides, we’re the third-biggest market in the world for the Japanese automaker.

The Destinator is already available in showrooms over in Indonesia. That’s not much of a surprise since the crossover is made over there. But the question on everyone’s minds is when it will land in the country.

Mitsubishi Motors Philippines appears to have hinted that it’s coming sooner than later. That’s because the company just released a short video about it over the weekend. Of course, there are no specifics yet, but the fact that the teaser is out means they’re creating buzz for it already.

The ten-second reel didn’t reveal much, either. All we got was a view of its tailgate and, well, not much else. At least we already know what it looks like, and we’d like to believe that there won’t be much design changes between the version sold in Indonesia and the Philippine-bound model.

At the time of writing, there are no left-hand drive markets that have the Destinator just yet. Given that we’re a major market for Mitsubishi Motors, it’s a safe bet that’s we could be the first to get the export units.

So, what can we expect from the upcoming and definitely confirmed for the Philippines Mitsubishi Destinator? We know its dimensions which are at 4,680mm long, 1,840mm wide, and 1,780mm tall, along with a relatively long 2,815mm wheelbase. Per the Indonesian spec sheet, ground clearance is listed at 214mm.

Powering the Destinator is a turbocharged 1.5-liter engine dubbed the 4B40. It’s the same engine used in the Eclipse Cross sold in Western markets and in Japan. The engine features direct injection and puts out 161hp and 250Nm. There’s no manual transmission option, meaning the engine is mated to a CVT.

Other things we might get locally? Higher trim levels are fitted with a panoramic sunroof and a Yamaha Premium sound system. Advanced driver assists are fitted to the Indonesia model, so expect these to be in the Philippine version as well. Of course, it comes with drive modes like the XForce, meaning Normal, Tarmac, Wet, Gravel, and Mud modes plus the benefit of Active Yaw Control.
