After a few months of speculation and anticipation, Mercedes-Benz Philippines has finally debuted the fully electric G-Class, otherwise known as the G580 with EQ Technology. And surprisingly, the G580 is the most affordable G-Class in the country today—priced at an eyebrow-raising P13.590 million.
We usually see carmakers put a premium on fully electric versions of their cars, but the other two locally available G-Class vehicles are priced significantly higher than the G580. Those who frequent Merc dealers can help us update our pricing, but the G450d stickers for P16.990 million, while the beastly G63 from Mercedes-AMG costs P24.78 million.

But don’t let the relatively cheaper price fool you. This is by no means an entry-level G-Class, and the power outputs from the quad-motor drive train can dutifully vouch for that. Let’s see exactly what that P13.590 million price tag gets you.

Powering that quad-motor system is a 116kWh lithium-ion battery, packing 12 modules with 216 cells between them. That should be good for 473km on a full charge, while outputs are clocked at 587hp and a whopping 1,164Nm of torque.

And through Merc’s Torque Vectoring technology, those 1,164Nm can then be optimally distributed to each motor mounted behind all four wheels. That is what makes the famous 720-degree G-Turn possible, as well as G-Steering, which allows individual wheels to turn at different speeds for better off-road maneuvering. All of this then rides on 20-inch light alloys from AMG.
Being an EV, the G580 does all of that silently—until the G-Roar is activated, simulating an internally-combustible auditory experience. And like the other EQ vehicles in the Silver Arrows’ stable, the electric Mercedes-Benz G-Class is also finished in AMG-Line styling. That includes those new wheels we talked about, along with AMG-branded floor mats. On the outside, the silhouette gets slabs of chrome over its grille and bumper to give off a sportier impression.
