Mitsubishi Motors Philippines is just fresh off the launch of the updated Xpander and Xpander Cross, but it looks like that’s far from the end of its big activities this year.
The Japanese automaker recently hinted at the imminent arrival of the all-new Destinator in the Philippines, and now we’ve just received word from a source that units have already arrived on our shores and are already at Mitsubishi’s plant in Sta. Rosa, Laguna. Exciting stuff.

Before you get too excited, these are merely rumors, so nothing is official. We’re taking all these with a good amount of salt ourselves. But we were told that a few units have already arrived, and if that’s true, then this isn’t just some feasibility testing for Mitsubishi—the carmaker could well be gearing up for the local launch. Again, exciting stuff.

To the uninitiated, the Destinator is Mitsubishi’s newest seven-seater SUV. It’s set to rival the likes of the Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV4. It comes powered by a 1.5-liter turbopetrol that produces 161hp and 250Nm of torque and is mated to a CVT. The Destinator will come equipped with advanced driver aids, selectable drive modes, and Mitsubishi’s patented Active Yaw Control.

Since its debut back in July, we’ve already known that the Destinator was bound for the Philippine market. It was just a matter of knowing when said debut would be. Well, we have an idea now. Keep your eyes peeled, ladies and gents.
