The current Mitsubishi Mirage isn’t what anyone would call a spring chicken. The current generation is already over a decade old, and there’s fresher competition surrounding it. And let’s not forget the slew of Chinese brands that constantly threaten legacy automakers.
With that, there seems to be no news on a next-generation model. Sure, there’s a new small Mitsubishi hatchback in Europe with the revived Colt, but that’s a rebadged Renault Clio and only for the Old Continent. However, the Mirage as we know it might get another update.

According to files from the Land Transportation Office (LTO), the 2026 Mitsubishi Mirage and Mirage G4 have been homologated for local sale. And no, that’s not a type, it really did say 2026. That hints at a possible facelift for the company’s subcompact vehicles.

So, what can we expect? Well, we can’t know for sure as LTO papers don’t know the look of the car. What we do know are some technical details. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the engine appears to be carried over. The documents mention a 1.2-liter engine and three cylinders. Dimensions for both sedan and hatchback are exactly the same according to the files.
We keep saying files because there are many of them, one for each variant of the Mirage and Mirage G4. For the hatch, there’s the 1.2 GLX MT and 1.2 GLX CVT. Meanwhile, the G4 sedan has 1.2 GLX MT, 1.2 GLX CVT, and 1.2 GLS CVT. Yes, they’re the same as before, but at least we know what we can expect from the 2026 model year.

The bigger question is this: When will it come out? Since the paperwork’s been filed and LTO approval has been granted, there’s a good chance it might be out later this year.
