No, the Mitsubishi Triton isn’t getting a facelift just yet. After all, it made its world premiere just two years ago. Given that pickups usually have a ten-year production run, this model isn’t due for one this year.
Still, that hasn’t stopped Mitsubishi from introducing rolling changes for its popular pickup. It’s mainly tech updates and minor exterior tweaks, particularly for the entry and mid-spec variants. These changes are available in Thailand now, so there’s a good chance we might get them locally soon.

For the Athlete, the advanced driver assist system now include a stop-and-go function for its adaptive cruise control. It’s effectively gives it low-speed cruise control, which should come in handy in traffic or waiting at the toll booth. The second is the addition of a NanoeX air purification system.

Moving to the lesser variants, all adapt the Black Edition look, meaning the grille, door mirrors, and handles are finished in, you guessed it, black. No more chrome for this model, and even the lowest spec versions get the same look save for the least expensive fleet variants. Also, NanoeX is standard on the second-highest variant, and all get LED daytime running lights.

There are no mechanical changes to report. The Athlete continues to use the high-output version of the 2.4-liter MIVEC turbodiesel with 201hp and 470Nm, while others come with a detuned version that puts out 181hp and 430Nm. In Thailand, there is a 148hp tune for the entry-level variants.
Given that the Philippines sources Mitsubishi Triton units from Thailand, we’re expecting some of these minor improvements to make their way to local units. These might either be quietly introduced, or Mitsubishi Motors Philippines can make an announcement. Either way, these small tweaks should go a long way given that the all-new Hilux is on the horizon, as well as the facelifted Ford Ranger.
