A cheaper, more affordable Tesla Model Y is currently in development, and we could see production-ready models before the end of the year. The announcement was made at the company’s recent investor call, where it also shared that the Cybercab and semi-trailer truck are inching towards production.
Tesla also confirmed the return of the sentimental Roadster, which is (still) in its design development stage. The Tesla Roadster has been rumored to reach almost hypercar levels of performance, while packing all the niceties of the Teslas of today.

But back to the new Model Y. It was previously reported that Tesla was preparing a new model with a friendlier price, most probably to compete against new EVs from China. Elon Musk cleared the air that its new competitor would essentially be a simpler Model Y. The carmaker’s CEO did not divulge too much on details, but rather stressed it will be affordable and it is coming soon.

Production is scheduled for the latter half of 2025, and reports outside of Tesla speculate that the Shanghai Gigafactory could start rolling the cheaper Model Y off sometime in 2026. While these timetables are broad, it means that the Philippines will likely receive the new EV next year, or even by early 2027.
Tesla has gotten off to a strong start in the country, marking 1,477 units sold in the first half of 2026. That puts the American car brand at 12th overall in the Philippines, already overtaking GAC and Mazda for the year thus far.
Interestingly, the Model 3 posts the most accessible price in the Tesla Philippines stable at P2.109 million. The cheapest Model Y stickers for P2.369 million, but perhaps we’ll be seeing a sub-P2 million Tesla in the near future.
