Well, it was only a matter of time. No, not that the bright yellow thing in the sky we’ve all been treated to recently would disappear, but the news that the facelifted Mercedes-Benz S-Class would receive the Maybach glow up. Taste police, where you at?
So, from the top. Or rather, outside, where the Maybach grille is now even bigger—by some 20%, in fact. It’s also illuminated, along with the three-pointed star atop the hood and Maybach emblem on the C-pillar, just in case anyone somehow fails to see you coming.
Moving on. The headlights get a rose-gold finish, while the forged wheels—available in 20-inch or 21-inch size—also now get self-leveling center caps. Ooh, pretty.

But it’s inside, accessed via doors that open and close at the touch of a button, where the magic really is. Front and center sits Merc’s pillar-to-pillar Superscreen dashboard, comprising a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, 14.4-inch central touchscreen, and a 12.3-inch passenger display. More importantly, in the back, there’s two armchair-style seats, plus individual 13.1-inch displays and a redesigned center console, complete with remote controls and cupholders that are an exact fit for the accompanying silver-plated Robbe & Berking champagne flutes.
And because there ain’t no party like a champagne party, further back you’ll find a 10-liter refrigerated compartment for your champers, or whatever else it is the super rich like to finish the day off with.
Speaking of finishes, there’s a palette of more than 150 exterior paints and over 400 interior colors to choose from, while a leather-free interior is available for the first time. For the right money, of course, you can have pretty much any interior you desire, courtesy of the Manufaktur Made to Measure program.
Under all that wealth, a choice of powertrains is available, ranging from 6.0-liter V12 (selected markets only), to 4.0-liter V8 mild hybrid, to 3.0-liter straight-six plug-in hybrid, the latter with an e-range of over 96km. Like you care.
No word on price, but if you have to ask…
