Nissan will be busy for the next couple of years. As part of The Arc mid-term plan, we can expect about 30 all-new or redesigned models from the Japanese automaker before the end of the decade.
There are several models from The Arc that we’re looking at with keen interest. Among these are the next-generation Nissan Navara and Nissan Patrol. The latter, it seems, will be making its world premiere sooner than later.

During the Japanese automaker’s first quarter financial results presentation, there were eight new models shown. Four of them were fully revealed, namely the all-new Infiniti QX80, the redesigned Nissan Kicks, the facelifted Aura, and Nismo Ariya.
The models at the back were a bit of a mystery, but there are some context clues to gain from Nissan president and CEO, Makoto Uchida. During his speech, he mentioned a slew of models that are expected to help the company get a sales boost this year.

Models mentioned included the Armada and Murano for North America, along with e-Power variants of the Qashqai, X-Trail and Juke for Europe. But the biggest deal for us is the next-generation Nissan Patrol. This, in some ways, confirms that the flagship SUV will be introduced sometime this year.
We also noticed two large SUVs that have similar outlines. We suspect that those were the Armada and the Patrol sneakily being previewed. Both SUVs have the same dual shark fin antenna as seen on the Infiniti QX80. With these models sharing one platform, that small design detail is a huge clue.
But isn’t the Armada essentially a rebadged Patrol for North America? That might not be the case this time around. Mind you, this isn’t the first time the Armada and Patrol have looked different. The first-generation Armada was based on the Titan pickup, while the contemporary Patrol was its own thing.

It was only in the second-gneration that the Armada and Patrol were identical. However, it seems that Nissan is stirring things up again There’s a good chance that both these models will likely carry a different look from each other despite having the same underpinnings.
There was mention of Nissan USA launching a new SUV around the middle of the year. It’s possible that it’ll be the Armada that will first be shown before the Patrol. That bit hasn’t been confirmed yet, but we’ll keep our eyes peeled for any updates.
