The hybrid Civic isn’t the only Civic at Honda’s 2024 Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS) display. Also making an appearance is the Honda Civic Type R Group A—and it’ll actually be available to local buyers.
This Mugen build made its debut earlier this year. The exterior bodykit transforms the FL5 Civic Type R into something along the lines of the previous generation, with more aggressive-looking aerodynamic bits, a single mid-mounted exhaust, and a massive rear wing. With these additional bits, the Group A gains 25% more downforce than the standard version.

The wheels get upgraded to 19-inch forged BBS FR10 alloys, too, to complement the more menacing appearance of the exterior. They also do a good job of showing off the red Brembo calipers.

The unit at PIMS was cordoned off so we couldn’t take a peak inside, but we know from the official photos that the Type R Group A has MS-C bucket seats, an alcantara-topped gearshift knob, and a center console finished in carbon fiber. As for performance, no changes have been made to the K20C1 under the hood, so it still makes 315hp and 420Nm of torque.

According to Honda Cars Philippines, sales of the Civic Type R Group A begin today, October 25, with only five units available for around P4.5 million. Knowing how in-demand the Type R is, all units are very likely to be snapped up by now.
