The Polo sedan has officially joined Volkswagen Philippines' local lineup, nearly three months after the German carmaker formally entered the Philippine motoring industry through its distributor, Automobile Central Enterprise.
Volkswagen's subcompact nameplate has been around since 1975 and its current iteration--its fifth generation--carries on the traits the model has been known for, like fuel efficiency mixed with high-end styling.
The Polo sedan wears the familiar front fascia used by its sportier brethren like the Scirocco. Powering it is a 1.6-liter common-rail TDI engine that, mated to a five-speed manual transmission, produces 104hp and 250Nm.
In addition, ACE claims that the Polo sedan is the first in its class to meet the stringent five-star Euro New Car Assessment Program's safety standards.
"Volkswagen has always been known as the People's Car, and now with the introduction of the Polo Notch, the possibilities of owning a fine German car with the latest in technological advancements become more attainable for the Filipino," said ACE president John Philip Orbeta in a statement.
The Volkswagen Polo sedan can be viewed and is now available at the Volkswagen Bonifacio Global City showroom for P950,000.
