It seems Pope Francis's visit to the Philippines won't be limited to him riding around in the Popemobile--whether it’s the Isuzu D-Max-based one or the jeepney-like model we reported last weekend.

According to Volkswagen Philippines, it has provided the Catholic Church leader with two units of the Touran, which he will use "as his official car in Manila when he attends private meetings and functions."

"It's an honor and privilege for us to become part of His Holiness's historic five-day visit to the Philippines," said Volkswagen Philippines president and chief executive John Philip Orbeta. "Volkswagen, one of the most trusted brands in the automotive industry, somehow reflects Pope Francis, a man of inner strength, rooted in humility and expressed in simplicity. Volkswagen's hard-won reputation for reliability, safety and solid construction is very much reflected in the Touran."

Orbeta added that after the papal visit, one of the Tourans will be donated to a church beneficiary that Pope Francis will later identify.
