Chinese carmaker Radar has officially entered the Philippine market, and its electrified pickup, the RD6, will be its flagbearer. The brand has made rounds all over the world, with operations in Europe, South America, the Middle East, and other parts of the Asia Pacific region. The RD6 has led the charge in all of those countries, and continues to be advertised as one of the best-selling trucks in China.
And it is now here, with two powertrain options: The fully electric RD6 Econ, priced at P1.358 million, and the plug-in hybrid RD6 EM-P, which stickers for P1.658 million.

Both these pickups make use of dual-motor systems and come with five-year or 150,000km warranty coverage. Radar and the United Asia Automotive Group, the brand’s local distributor, will also provide customers with a separate eight-year or 200,000km warranty on the high-voltage battery.

Those who opt for the fully electric RD6 Econ will be getting a truck that makes 376hp and 485Nm of torque. It boasts a total payload capacity of around 907kg, with a truck bed spanning 1,765mm long. There is also a frunk for more storage.

Wading depth is set at 815mm, as it also advertises a water-resistant cargo liner on the bed. Driving range is advertised at 443km, but a full review will be needed to verify that.
The plug-in hybrid RD6 EM-P makes use of a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine and dual motors to produce 457hp and 659Nm of torque. With a fully charged battery and a full tank of gas, it should be able to drive over 1,000km, with 82km on purely electric power.

Radar has added power outlets in the cargo bed, along with specific drive modes for off-roading. Payload capacity should also be similar to the 907kg on the fully electric RD6.
From the numbers alone, it looks like the BYD Shark 6 DMO has some serious competition, but stay tuned for our first impressions and full review.
