Hyundai is to N and BMW is to M as Subaru is to STI. Unfortunately, we’ve been missing the true Subaru Tecnica International creations over the past several years. The current-generation WRX, for example, has yet to get a true STI version.

Well, Subaru’s trying to do something about it...emphasis on ‘trying.’ It’s confirmed that it will be showcasing the STI brand at the upcoming Singapore Motorshow 2025, albeit in the form of body kits for the Forester e-Boxer Hybrid, the BRZ, and, yes, the WRX. All kits, save for the parts on the WRX, will be available for purchase this weekend from January 9 to 12.

The Forester, we get. It’s not like installing body kits on a family-oriented vehicle is something Subaru hasn’t done before. But the BRZ and the WRX? It’s not sacrilege, but it’s somewhat of a travesty.

The kit for the Forester e-Boxer Hybrid includes a front under spoiler, grille, door garnishes, 19-inch wheels, shift-knob leather wrap, sport pedals, and a push-to-start button, all branded with STI. The BRZ and WRX get underbody spoilers, STI rims, and rear diffusers. The former gets an added dry carbon rear spoiler, while the latter is fitted with a reworked, STI-badged grille.

Toyota’s been getting flak from car enthusiasts because of how it loosely uses the Gazoo Racing branding. Well, it’s 2025, and we have Subaru here doing the same thing with STI. But at least Subies are being called ‘reliable’ now, right? Anyway, what say you, Subaru fans and purists?
