The Subaru STI Performance concepts have been unveiled, and they are glorious. These aren’t kits and add-ons, but bold, tangible foundations for the next batch of STI models. And the best part? They’re a pair of sporty, high-performance wagons.
Currently on display at the 2025 Japan Mobility Show, the Subaru Performance-E STI will usher the division into its electrified era. The concept was built around practicality, utilizing a fully electric powerplant to propel a spacious cabin and what looks to be a wide cargo area. Subaru also promises “outstanding aerodynamics,” along with a whole new look and driving experience.
Next to it is the Performance-B STI concept, which was crafted with a more traditional STI experience in mind. For starters, it packs an internal combustion engine with the words ‘Proud of Boxer’ adorned on the hood. That confirms a horizontally-opposed powertrain is onboard, paired with Symmetrical All-Wheel-Drive.

The concept also sports a new headlight design, which looks like a cross between the Stinkeye and Hawkeye generations. It oozes Subaru history, but the audacious rear wing reminds you that the brand is still capable of new and big things.
Overall, it doesn’t look too far off from previous Impreza and WRX Wagon generations, which feels like a good omen for the next generation of Subies. Even the fully electric concept shows a lot of promise. The future of Subaru is looking bright, and we can’t wait for the next STI model.
