The already athletic Subaru XV has just gotten an even sportier makeover. Motor Image Pilipinas, the country’s official Subaru distributor, has just unveiled the GT edition at the 2019 Manila International Auto Show (MIAS).
The GT edition was designed exclusively for the Asian market. It was done in collaboration with engineering company Giken and Masahiko ‘Jack’ Kobayashi, Subaru’s former chief designer whose resume includes the WRX STI.
The exterior add-ons include a new front bumper lip extension with integrated canards, new sides skirts, a longer roof spoiler, an extension on the rear bumper, and bespoke 18-inch wheels. Inside, the cabin gets leather seats akin to those found in European grand tourers. The GT also boasts a dual sideview monitor system for easier parking. Under the hood, the 2.0-liter boxer engine with 154hp and 196Nm remains.
“Motor Image worked with Giken and Kobayashi-san, because they share our enthusiasm for design and creating fun and exciting products,” says Motor Image head Glenn Tan. “I know this will be the start of an exciting collaboration for Subaru customers. We believe this GT edition will help create excitement in Asia and offer customers who want an even sportier version of the XV a new and unique look. We expect that the Philippines will be one of the key markets for the Subaru XV GT Edition.”
No official price was given in the press release, but the XV GT is already available for booking from Subaru’s dealerships. In the meantime, check out more photos below.
