Think utilitarian Suzuki vehicles and the Carry would probably be the first thing that comes to mind, but at the recent Philippine Commercial Vehicle Show, the Japanese carmaker showed off two other interesting models geared toward fleet and business use.
The first one is based on the Ertiga, the brand’s now-electrified seven-seat MPV, but modified for transport duties. Based on the model’s GA variant, Suzuki Ertiga Hybrid GA Taxi adopts a five-seat configuration to maximize both passenger and cargo space.

As with the standard Ertiga, the taxi version is powered by a 1.5-liter gasoline engine paired with an integrated starter motor that improves acceleration and allows for seamless start/stop operation. The powertrain is good for 103hp and 138Nm of torque. Suzuki Philippines says this particular variant is currently not for sale, however, but it shows the potential of the MPV as a premium taxi or rideshare vehicle.

The second model is not available for sale on the local market, either—or at least not yet. We’ve written about the Suzuki Eeco before and how it would be a good addition to the carmaker’s Philippine lineup—perhaps we’ll see it soon on our roads.
Measuring 3,675mm long, 1,475mm wide, and 1,825mm tall, the Eeco is even smaller than the Toyota Lite Ace panel van. The smaller engine, too: a 1.2-liter gasoline unit delivering 80hp and 104Nm of torque, and claiming up to 19.72km/L.

Other mainstays on the Suzuki lineup were also featured at the show: the APV GA and, of course, the Carry. The latter was shown as a PUV Class 1 unit and a Utility Van. The PUV version is a 10-seater that will soon be available for sale, while the Utility Van amps up the model’s cargo-carrying capabilities with 50/50 split-folding rear seats, a 70/30 split-opening back door, and a heavy-duty lock.
