Whenever a brand-new model arrives in our region, we always look to the ASEAN New Car Assessment Program. See, no matter how much we drive these cars, we’ll never really know how safe they are without proper testing, which is where the ASEAN NCAP comes in.
New reports from the program have come out, and it includes one particular model that’s also new in our market: the Suzuki Fronx. This is the Japanese carmaker’s budget-friendly subcompact crossover, and it’s just gotten a full five-star safety rating.

The Fronx got five stars across all four categories: adult occupant protection (where it scored the highest), child occupant protection, safety assist, and motorcyclist safety. In total, the Fronx scored 77.7 out of a possible 100, which is enough for the five-star rating.

Breaking down the scores further, the Fronx provided good protection for the head, neck, thighs, knees, and feet during frontal impact, while the side impact had good protection for the driver’s head and hips. Adequate protection for the torsos of front passengers was observed across the tests.

The Fronx also had decent child occupancy protection, with high scores for both frontal and side impact assessment for children in car seats. The wide range of advanced driver-assist tech available, meanwhile, helped the crossover garner high scores in the other two categories.
