It’s been a while since we heard of any news about the Suzuki Grand Vitara, or anything Vitara related, for that matter. The only SUV that wears the S badge in the Philippines is the Jimny and its five-door counterpart.
The Jimny continues to print money for Suzuki, but not everyone in the small SUV market wants a truck-based vehicle with, let’s be honest, compromised on-road dynamics. With that, we think the Grand Vitara deserves a comeback here.

Meanwhile in India, there’s pretty big news about it. That’s because it Autocar India has reported that there will be a larger, grander versions of the said SUV soon. Not only that, It could roll out before the end of 2025.
There have been test mules spotted in India in the recent months. No, it won’t be called the Grander Vitara, but it sports a longer body and wheelbase, meaning this model could go from subcompact to compact. If so, the bump up in size class means it could face firm favorites such as the Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV4, along with enthusiast choices like the Mazda CX-5 and Subaru Forester.

The difference is, the stretched Grand Vitara will have three-row seating, at least according to the report. Yes, the CR-V has seven seats, but Suzuki could eke out more space for two extra seats if it wants to match the popular Honda. The wheelbase stretch also hints more room for second-row passengers.
Engine options are unknown at the moment, but likely to be the same as the regular-length Grand Vitara. In India, it’s a choice between a 1.5-liter, naturally aspirated engine with 104hp, or a 1.6-liter hybrid that makes 116hp. All-wheel drive will be an option, per the report.
